Are you always so doggone busy? Do you want the benefits of dog obedience classes without having the time to be an integral part of the process? We can still help!
While we prefer that each dog’s parent work closely with us during the learning process, we understand that not everyone has the time or the luxury to do so.
As a result of this, we are happy to offer multiple board and train programs for owners that don’t have the time to commit to private sessions each week. We offer three different programs that are developed with your preferred end goal in mind. Once we get an idea of the level of obedience you’re looking for, we craft a plan that best suits you and your dog.
Our dog board and train programs are completed with patience, care, and love. We understand that leaving your dog may be stressful. To ensure that both you and your dog are comfortable, we take every precaution to guarantee safety and happiness during your dog’s time with us.
All you must do is drop your dog off for the duration of the board and train program. Once we’re finished, you pick up your same old dog, with a lot of new tricks! We do rely on you to provide what your dog will need for their stay, such as any food and medication. We are comfortable giving oral medication when needed, but do not have the ability to administer injectable medication at this time.
Owners are also required to provide a regular flat collar for their stay. Extras to make your dog more comfortable such as toys, bones, and treats are welcome but not required. Any items you send with your dog will be given only to your dog, and are never shared with any other dog we have in board.
We are one of the only board and train programs available in the Puyallup/Tacoma/Seattle area, and we’d like to think we’re the best too. We work closely with your dog, breaking down the root cause of any behavior issue, while reinforcing positive traits with a firm yet gentle approach. We understand that your dog may need a little time at first to adjust to their home away from home and we meet this with gentle guidance and extra care.
When your dog enters our board and train program, they are given their own large impact crate, which are indestructible. This keeps them safe and secure when not in training, relaxing, or having fun. We do not have dogs off leash playing like you would see at doggy daycare or at a dog park. Our program is based on building handler focus with each dog, requiring a close relationship with each dog individually, not as a group.
Each board and train program depends on which is being chosen but generally consists of three structured sessions per day with
each dog. This includes 1-2 walks, place work, and basic manners inside, as well as crate training, and socialization while out and in public. During your dog’s stay, we will do our best to keep your dog stress free, happy, and comfortable.
Once your best friend completes their course, we ensure success at home by providing you with extra private training. This helps owners understand everything that’s required to continue obedience success beyond the program and in the home.
While we accept any breed and size, dogs must be a minimum of 6 months old for board and train programs.

ABOUT US
Next-Step K9 is an at home dog training business with the goal in mind of giving you and your dog the best life possible. Dogs should add so much joy, love and meaning to our lives but I’ve found due to lack of obedience, leadership and communication so many people are living with their furry friends as a burden rather than a positive impact.
